Lake Mead Real Estate and National Recreation Area

Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States, offers year-round enjoyment to Southern Nevada residents and visitors alike. At roughly 24 miles from the hustle-and-bustle of the Las Vegas strip, Lake Mead provides a convenient respite for all of its visitors.

Water Activities

At maximum capacity Lake Mead boasts an impressive 759 miles of shoreline. This amount of water provides guests with access to an unmatched amount of water related activity, including boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and more. Lake Mead even features four marinas: Lake Mead Marina, Las Vegas Boat Harbor, Callville Bay and Temple Bar. And with almost 300 days of sunlight each year, it’s always a great time to be out on the water.

Hiking/Biking

Along with its obvious water attractions, the lake offers an abundance of activities for land-lovers to enjoy. Designated as a National Historic Trail, the Railroad Tunnel Trail is perhaps Lake Mead’s most popular trail. 3.7 miles from trailhead to Hoover Dam Parking Garage, this trail offers gorgeous lake views with refreshing passage through segments of shaded railroad tunnels. While Lake Mead has numerous biking trails for riders of all ability levels, the park’s most famous is not for the faint of heart. The River Mountains Loop Trail runs approximately 34 miles in length while connects the Lake Mead National Recreation Area to Hoover Dam and Boulder City.

Camping

Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers a variety of camping options for novices and experts alike. Single-day dry camping is inexpensive and provides campers with access to restrooms, water spigots, tables and barbecues. These amenities are not available at every single-day campsite, so be sure to choose your location based on what’s important to you. For RV campers, most marinas around the lake offer full-hookup campgrounds. However, these sites tend to fill quickly, so be sure to book in advance. And if you’re considering doing a little bit of backcountry camping, always be sure to inform a friend or family member of your relative location and when you plan on returning.

These are merely a few of the great activities to enjoy at Lake Mead. Speak with a member of the Gore Group today to find out more information about this or any of your home buying or selling needs.
